About my Darn Good Traditions

I have a huge passion for baking, antiques, and family.  I really am excited about 2012.  There are a lot of changes happening in my life.  I have not always seen the best in everything, and didn’t have the best childhood, but I do remember cooking/baking was something that I always thought about in regards to family and smiled.  All of our holidays growing up were centered around food and sharing moments while making it. So much so that I went to college to become a Pastry Chef at Johnson and Wales University.

I am going to spend this year baking through cookie, candy, cake, and desert recipes that my Grandmothers both used for holiday parties, family get together’s, church functions, and other occasions.  Most of these recipes I have never attempted, because they seemed strange, or too difficult.  Looking through my Grandma McAdoo’s book she doesn’t even give exact measurements.  I am also attempting this project to help me in creating menu items for my Bakery that I intend to open one of these days.  For now it is an experiment of the heart and soul, in order to connect myself more to these two beautiful women.

This blog is dedicated to my Grandmothers who taught me this joy in life and always made the most of every moment.
